Collection: Dion Fortune

Dion Fortune (1890–1946) was an early practitioner of Freudian psychology whose interests in human behavior and the nature of the soul drew her to the teachings of theosophy. She was a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which she left in 1924 to found the Fraternity of the Inner Light, a spiritualist organization that is still active today. Her mentor in the practice of occultism was a Freemason named Theodore Moriarity. Their work together is the inspiration behind The Secrets of Dr. Taverner. 

Dion Fortune authored more than twenty nonfiction books on the topics of psychology and occultism. Her works of fiction include seven novels that explore concepts of applied magic. Today, she is widely considered to be an authority on twentieth-century spiritualism and a link to modern Pagan religions.
