WordFire Wednesday 99 Cent Deals
Looking for a deal? Every Wednesday, we bring you three fantastic reads for just 99 cents! Here are this week’s picks:
The Taste of Different Dimensions: Fifteen tasty tales from a master of fantasy by Alan Dean Foster
The dead. The undead. Those who wish they were dead. They’re all here, along with a legend from a Pacific island, a legend from beneath a Pacific island, and much, much more. Frogs and dogs, knaves and slaves, and maybe a smidgen of real but impertinent food. Extend your imagination and have a nibble. You’ll come back for more.
Includes the never before published story “Fetched.”
Gunslinger: The Dragon of Yellowstone by Edward J. Knight
They say girls can’t be gunslingers. Beth’s gonna prove ’em wrong.
Even if she has to fight a dragon to do it.
The ghost of Calamity Jane gave her the gun. Wild Bill Hickok taught her to shoot. And at sixteen, she’s ready to make a name of her own. So when strange assailants murder a visiting Arapaho shaman, Beth straps on her Colt .45. She must find the killers, defeat their dragon, and prevent the destruction of the West.
From the Author:
Gunslinger exists because my wife requested more stories with female characters, but I really wrote it for my daughter. She’s a "small but fierce” girl who would stare down a monster with a glare and a snarl. A lot of her spirit made its way into Beth, who began as a secondary character in my novel Sidekick, but was one of those classic scene stealers who needed her own starring role. Then it was just a matter of giving her a worthy opponent. I figured a dragon might just fit the bill. It turned out to be a lot of fun to write.
The Wolf Leader by Alexandre Dumas
lost classic from the author of The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask.
What’s the next best thing to having a walking wolf grant your wishes? Would it be enough to take revenge on those who oppose you?
To Thibault the shoemaker, that pact is worth more than gold. Or at least more than the single, dark hairs on his handsome, youthful head. What could go wrong when one can simply wish their enemies out of the way? Alexandre Dumas brings us a story of envy so ravenous, it eats its own heart.
“A complex and nuanced novel that, upon repeated readings, yields more insight and entertainment even after more than one hundred and sixty years.”— Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of The Wolfman

Prophets of Death and Madness: The Book of Ancient Evil 3 John Haas
**Preorder special! For a limited time, preorder Prophets of Death and Madness and receive a free eBook of "Shades of Springbourne," a short story spinoff from one of John Haas's most popular characters!**
About the book:
The Necronomicon lies on the ocean floor, but there are other hidden copies. That loathsome tome contains ways to contact creatures far superior to even horrific Cthulhu.
Elder gods who could destroy all reality in the blink of an eye.
Death lies in wait for Doctor Archibald Shaw, recent survivor of the sinking of the Titanic. Dangers, both new and familiar, unseen and overt, conspire to drag him deeper into the dark secret world. Shaw struggles to resist an undeniable pull toward Arkham, Massachusetts … and whatever new nightmare awaits there.
Meanwhile Singh crosses the Atlantic in pursuit of his only friend, convinced he may already be too late. He faces dangers of his own in the ocean’s depths, dangers that may prevent him from ever reaching Shaw.
Separated for the first time in decades, the two struggle against impossible odds—alone.
Monsters. Nightmares. Exotic portals. Elder gods. A strange new cult.
Will Shaw and Singh reunite before death claims them all?
About the author:
John Haas is a Canadian author, born and raised in Montreal before moving to Calgary, where he lived for twelve wonderful years. Now he lives in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, but still misses seeing those Rocky Mountains in the distance.
John has been writing for most of his life, but only became serious about being published in the last decade or so. In that time he has published twenty short stories in various venues, including Writers of the Future volume 35. His first three novels have also been released—The Reluctant Barbarian (2017), The Wayward Spider (2019) and The Unavoidable Quests (2020), a fun and humorous fantasy trilogy.
Currently he is hard at work on the next novel of Shaw and Singh’s struggles against the forces of darkness.
His goal is to become a full-time writer (rich and famous would be nice too, but not the main goal).
He lives with his two wonderful sons who continue to give him motivation, support and time to write.
Mystic: The Monk Addison Case Files by Jonathan Maberry
About the book:
Gerald "Monk" Addison used to be a soldier. Sometimes he’s a bounty hunter. Mostly, he’s a killer of killers.
His body is covered with the faces of victims of serial killers, human traffickers, and other monsters. Their blood is mixed with holy water and then inked onto his skin, allowing him to relive their deaths. To feel what they felt, and to see what they saw. The faces of the killers.
And then Monk goes hunting.
He is forever haunted by the ghosts who hire him. A madman mystic. A man driven to darkness and acts of shocking violence. Monk is a good man on a dark and dangerous road in search of personal redemption. In search of red justice.
Mystic collects the Monk Addison case files, pitting him against the most dangerous kinds of human monsters. These are stories of a complex and driven hunter of men. They are tales of a mystic hunting the nightmare streets and back alleys.
