Trail Mix

Trail Mix

T. Duren Jones loves hiking wilderness trails. He gets out as often as he can, and enjoys taking friends and family on his explorations. Most of those who have joined his adventures still talk to him. He has hiked hundreds of trails in the American West, has summited all of the 54 Colorado 14,000 ft. peaks (now on his second round with his granddaughter), and has trekked the nearly 500 miles of the Colorado Trail's 28 segments from Denver to Durango. Once he's done with one checklist, he on to the next—this guy is nuts!

This book is a follow-up to Tales from the Trails, this time with new stories presented in bite-sized pieces. Snack on a few at a time, but you might not want to put it down and end up eating, er, reading, the whole package in one sitting. As with his previous book, Trail Mix is part adventure, part travelogue, part motivational encouragement, part cautionary tale, and part stand-up comedy (at lest the author thinks so).

Trail Mix is for anyone who loves spending time in the outdoors, who wishes they could be outdoors more, or who simply enjoys reading about nuts who spend time in the great outdoors. The author hopes by sharing these adventures—and misadventures—that the readers will be inspired to go out and discover their own stories.

About the Author
T. Duren Jones

T. Duren Jones gets out into the wilderness as often as possible, camping, fishing, hiking, desert trekking, and “bagging” peaks—and does he have stories to tell! He’s hiked hundreds of trails, completed the nearly 500 miles of the Colorado Trail, and has summitted all 54 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks. He’s kinda crazy that way. And now he’s on his second round, conquering those mammoth mountains with his granddaughter.

Tim (he thinks T. Duren sounds more impressive) enjoys taking friends, family, and his wife, Diane, on wilderness quests with him … and most of them have survived his escapades. He doesn't write about those who didn't make it out. His first book is titled Tales from the Trails. The book is part adventure journal, part travelogue, part motivational encouragement, part stand-up comedy—and includes 26 nearly true outdoor stories from trails and climbs around the American West. Some are cautionary tales—don't do what he did if you want to live to tell about it.

A former Periodicals Director, Tim has worked in marketing, advertising, and publishing for more than 25 years. He currently does freelance commercial art, marketing, and advertising consulting.

Tim and his wife Diane have raised four creative and equally adventurous children. He and Diane enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle together that includes biking, softball, snowshoeing, and hiking the many wonderful trails in their home state of Colorado.
