About the Author
David Sakmyster

David Sakmyster is a life-long lover of stories, particularly of the speculative variety, and he's been penning science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories ever since he began reading them. He cut his teeth hearing his father read creepy, classic Edgar Allen Poe stories (outside his mother's earshot). As he learned to read, he moved on to H.P. Lovecraft, King, Straub, Tolkien--pretty much anything he could find that scared, thrilled, and amazed him. After closing each book he'd dream about someday doing for readers what those authors had done for him, perhaps even one day keeping another kid up late after storytime, afraid to turn off the light.

After winning a creative writing award in high school, David went on to place several short stories, and then a novel, Twilight of the Fifth Sun, published by Dragon Moon Press. In 2005 he won second place in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest for his story "The Red Envelope." He has since published several dozen short stories in various venues, and a nonfiction book, The Belhurst Story. In addition he's had multiple novels published, including a series about psychic archaeologists (described as “Indiana Jones meets The X-Files”) beginning with The Pharos Objective; an epic historical adventure, Silver and Gold; a story collection, Escape Plans; the suspense novels Crescent Lake and N.D.E.; and three books in the Jurassic Dead series coauthored with Rick Chesler. His screenplay, Nightwatchers, has been optioned for production. His most recent solo novel, Final Solstice, has been heralded as "a thrilling tale of action, intrigue, and the occult," by David Wood, author of Atlantis.
